girlfriend collective | review

There will come a time when the entirety of my yoga wardrobe is girlfriend collective. That time is unfortunately not now, because you know, budgets and things-- but one day! Even so, I have acquired two sets in a year, so I'm on the right (spendy) track.

As yoga has become a more routine part of my life, it made sense to invest in the essentials for a good practice (namely mat and clothes). There is something about wearing an outfit you feel comfortable in that boosts confidence in the whole practice. I had heard about girlfriend a few months prior to committing to my first purchase, when what originally held me back was price. Now, this is by no way sponsored, but I am here to tell you that these are quite possibly the best leggings of all time for three main reasons: sustainability, quality, and design/colors.

Sustainability

All girlfriend clothing is environmentally conscious-- made from things like recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets. The company also aims to be transparent about their manufacturing process and the steps they've taken to reduce the large impact that the clothing industry usually has on the planet, from fabric dyeing to packaging.

Beyond the sustainability of the product itself-- the company has built a wonderful sense of community around their brand. A few months back, they ran a marketing promo where if you posted a photo wearing girlfriend clothing while volunteering in your community, they sent you a coupon code (which are VERY rare). The encouragement to be an active and positive force in your community is something more companies should get behind.

Quality

You may hesitate at first when you hear that the fabric is made from literal trash-- but you would never guess without someone telling you. The fabric feels sleek, has a good weight, and is so so buttery soft. They have a great amount of stretch, and to keep it really simple, just feel great to wear.
The quality is undeniable from the moment you pick a pair of leggings up for the first time to the end of a great hike/ workout session/ yoga practice/ trip to the grocery store. It's honestly hard not to wear them all the time; in my opinion, the truest testament of quality.

Design & Color

In addition to feeling sleek, these pieces look sleek. The minimalism of the finishes really let the colors shine and oh man the colors. Hands down, girlfriend has the prettiest color selection out there, often releasing limited color collections that sell out WAY too fast. You'll see colors like sedona (a beautiful burnt orange),  plum, the list goes on. Then there is something beyond the color itself: the richness of the color in the fabric that is just beautiful.

Are you a girlfriend collective fan too? Is there another equally amazing company that I should know about? Until then, I'm off to go look at whatever new pretty color is available and pray for some sort of sponsorship *my bank account's fingers are crossed*.
