Photo Diary 011 | Fall In Oregon

For the last two fall seasons, I have been in an absolute wasteland of all the fall things. No crunchy leaves, no crisp mornings where your breath fogs up the air, no sweaters or tea or getting curled up in a blanket with a book (without breaking into a sweat). This lack of seasonality had begun to take its toll on me... What month is it? Year? It's not July?!... so it was time to take a pilgrimage back to the Pacific Northwest, where fall in Oregon is supreme. Here follows my love letter to Fall in Oregon...

Thrifting & Vintage Shop Tips

Not only is thrifting easier on your wallet & the planet, it's also just really cool. Sure, that may be my opinion, but it's one I wish everyone would adopt. We produce so much clothing waste for no good reason. By going to a thrift or vintage shop you have the opportunity to be eco-conscious and find some really fun, unique, one-of-a-kind stuff. Stuff that when you wear it, you feel really cool too.

I know that thrifting is not always the most glamorous of activities (seriously, always come supplied with hand-sanitizer and a good attitude) and it can be a little intimidating. After all, thrift shops are usually categorized in two ways: type of clothing and size. Beyond that, its a grab-bag of fabrics, decades, brands, colors, patterns, etc. Well never to fear! I've outlined my tips for thrifting, so the next time you go- you can shop with confidence and go find that diamond in the rough!

Outfit 012

The secondary title of this post is: "No Way,  I Made a Shirt!" This happy gingham wrap shirt, a pair of white denim and saltwater sandals, made up classic outfit that just called out to take a stroll to Hollywood Studios. I have a healthy fear of white denim (how can one avoid sitting in something!?) but I really love the way they look. I guess a little bit of bravery and constant vigilance could encourage me to wear them more often... Anyways --back to the shirt I made-- I recently started sewing again! I started out small with a little pillow, and then (foolishly?) jumped right into making clothes.

Recently Read: Little Women

I finished my re-read of Little Women right about the same time that the trailer for Greta Gerwig's film adaptation was released. The news that a new version of the classic story was being released was the inspiration for a long-overdue revisit of this charming tome overflowing with heart-- and no matter how the film turns out (fingers crossed its fantastic) inspiring this return is something I will be grateful to it for.
