Outfit 62 | Welcoming Spring
Spring is bittersweet in the southeast because it is so beautiful but so fleeting. I'm taking care to spend that extra hour in the evening to be outside, to tend to the flowers, before temperatures start soaring and we sprint into early summer. The possibilities of a blank slate, energy of crisp air and delicate beginning of the natural world captured me this season and inspired me to make this skirt.
I came across a targeted ad for a beautiful, but sold-out, skirt that I immediately wanted in my wardrobe and thought, "I can make that", so I did. This is the first time that I've actually brought this idea of replicating a finished item to fruition, and I am so proud. As soon as the thought popped into my mind, I was filled with this overwhelming confidence that I could find a baseline pattern, and make the modifications to match my vision. Luckily, the pattern I very quickly found was so similar, that I only had to mix two of the versions together and find the right trim. It was meant to be. A beautiful start to a new season of creation.
Pattern: Simplicity S9750
