Harry Potter Month | Cursed Child Thoughts

Pottermore. From https://www.pottermore.com/news/what-to-expect-from-cursed-child-script-book

Suffice it to say, Potter Month would not be complete without a discussion of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. As someone who will likely never see the stage play, I am really looking forward to reading the script book, which will be released this weekend! Of course, no excitement is met with one-hundred-percent clear feelings...

Harry Potter Month | Luna Inspired Outfits

As promised last week, this Harry Potter Month post brings you two looks based on my personal favorite character in the Potterverse: Luna Lovegood. The challenge for me this week was pattern mixing, something Luna dearly loves and a skill I wish I were more confident in. Disappointingly, I don't own any radish earrings, but alas the show must go on....

Harry Potter Month | Hermione Inspired Outfits

For my second Harry Potter Month post, I wanted to combine both fashion and literature. The result: Hermione inspired outfits. I took into account both the fact that Granger is a no-nonsense lady and the truth that she is most likely a girl-boss somewhere that required at least semi-professional wardrobe. It was such a fun experiment to channel a character I love so much and dig into my closet in a way I'm not accustomed to! Read on to learn more about each outfit!

Recently Read: Winter | The Lunar Chronicles

I tried (unsuccessfully) to remain unattached to these books, these cyborg-space fairy-retellings, to say they were nothing more than another post-apocalyptic fan-service to teenaged girls. However, after reading the 700-something page beast that is Winter, I must succumb to the truth that I adore this series.

Harry Potter Month | Wizarding World Haul

July is Harry Potter month for 5 Fandom Friday. This week, I thought I'd share the irresponsible amount of things I picked up on my recent inaugural trip to Wizarding World Hollywood. My motto for the trip was: "if I want it, I buy it", and boy did I take that to heart.

Twilight Zone | The Want of Fringe

I was minding my own business, watching the essential Twilight Zone episodes, when the episode "The Midnight Sun" began and Lois Nettleton's hair appeared. As I realized that many of these ladies had the same small, piece-y bangs, something very bad happened: I wanted small, piece-y bangs.

This is in fact very bad because fringe and I have a troubled past. In middle-school (a.k.a the best time in everyones' lives) I was obsessed with having those giant, side-swept bangs that everyone had. Unfortunately, the combination of curl/wave and my cowlick did not agree with this aspiration. Hence about four-years of cringe-worthy school photos.

If I've learned one thing so far in life it's that you shouldn't fight your natural hair. After this revelation, I never once attempted an actual bang-cut; there were many a side swept, or face-framing layer, but never bangs. Well friends, I'm probably about to do something very foolish, but I think its time to give fringe another go. Wish me luck.

Farmers Market | Essential Oils & Doughnuts

I absolutely love farmer's markets. There's something about buying local products, and meeting the hands that make them, that just makes things feel as if they possess a deeper worth. Markets in the Portland area are especially great, and I'm not sure whether that's because I'm just biased or if it's truth. It is always exciting to go to a new market because each is so unique, and with this one we really hit the jackpot.
