Photo Diary 012 | Fall Dapper Day

Dapper Day: the biannual event that requires meticulous planning, research, shopping, and hours of watching YouTube hair tutorials. What possibly could make this day more complex and intense, you may ask? Well here I present to you: making your own Dapper Day dress.

I will credit this idea to my always supportive boyfriend (who was also supportive as it dawned on me that I sewed all of my bias tape on backwards and almost broke down entirely).

The is the infamous “Walkaway Dress” by Butterick Patterns-- an insanely popular dress from the 1950s. I’ll be sure to go more into the process of sewing this baby and the history behind it in a future post-- so keep an eye out!

With a lovely wintery bite in the air (shocking, I know) this was the first Dapper Day where I wasn’t completely miserable and sweating my makeup off in 20 minutes. This was also my first Dapper Day at Hollywood Studios-- and I really loved it. It serves as the perfect old Hollywood backdrop (naturally) and is so much easier logistically to visit than Magic Kingdom. It is so fun to see the creativity of all who step out in their best on these days. Really it's just fun to see people having fun.

Dapper Day is always one of the highlights of my year, and this one felt even more special because it had a bit more of my blood, sweat, and tears (quite literally). I don't know if I'll make it a habit to make my own dress for every event, but dang am I proud of this one.
