Outfit 68 | Byward Dress
There are two things I appreciate in a pattern, a quick turnaround (I'm impatient) and utilization of scrap fabric (I don't throw away and fabric larger than one cubic centimeter). This beautiful dress features both those qualifications and more. This was my pattern-test version, so imagine the final thing even better (it's hard for me, too).
On the pattern test call, a patchwork version was shown, and I knew right away that I would be doing the same. I gravitate towards certain colors, especially seasonally, so I had a nice cache of fabric in the green family just waiting for this moment. I took this very seriously as I am still a little hesitant to pattern mix, and planned out all my sections of fabric. You should have seen my notes app. I almost didn't include that bottom-right green white and green floral out of fear of it not meshing with the other fabric, but I'm glad I took a risk because seeing it finished now, I couldn't imagine the dress without it.
The Byward is a fun mini length with a halter neckline, and it made me feel tall! I'm crossing my fingers that soon enough the weather will cool off, so I can test my theory that this dress would also look very cute layered for cooler weather. For now, it's just right as-is (maybe with a backup jacket in tow for my wishful thinking).
